Hello welcome to Mrs. Perez's kindergarten classroom page. I am Sabrina Perez. I have worked in the Meade County School District for 6 years now. I started as a cafeteria lady, I then became an instructional assistant while I went through college, and I am now a teacher. I reside in Brandenburg, KY with my loving husband of 15 years and my two beautiful children ages 14 and 13. I am so excited to be on this adventure with you and your children.

We partner closely with families to ensure each child feels supported every single day. From phonics adventures to hands-on math, we make foundational learning an exciting adventure.
Classroom highlights & daily curriculum
Morning focus areas
Morning meeting - 8:00 AM
Starting our day with community greetings, calendar time, emotional check-ins, and shared morning songs.
Phonics & reading - 8:30 AM
Letter recognition, sound blending, and early sight word practice through interactive stories and rhyme.
Writing workshop - 9:30 AM
Fine motor practice, letter tracing, and guided sentence illustration to build confident young authors.
Snack & story - 10:15 AM
A healthy pause paired with read-aloud time to foster listening comprehension and thoughtful group discussion.
Hands-on math - 10:45 AM
Number sense, counting games, basic shapes, and pattern building with colorful manipulatives.
Learning stations - 11:30 AM
Small group guided instruction and rotation centers designed to target individual learning goals.
Lunch & recess - 12:00 PM
Nutritious meals followed by outdoor active play that encourages teamwork, gross motor growth, and friendship.
Quiet recharge - 12:45 PM
Calm music, independent book exploration, and mindfulness exercises to reset for afternoon activities.

STEM discovery - Mondays & Wednesdays
Hands-on sensory experiments, weather observations, and introductory engineering challenges with blocks.
Creative arts - Tuesdays & Thursdays
Painting, clay sculpting, and musical movement to celebrate imagination and artistic expression.
Social-emotional learning - Daily
Role-playing empathy, conflict resolution, active listening, and celebrating unique personal strengths.
Closing circle - 2:30 PM
Reviewing our daily accomplishments, singing our classroom farewell song, and preparing backpacks for home.

Physical education - Mondays
Movement games, sportsmanship, agility courses, and coordination development in the gymnasium.
Music & rhythm - Tuesdays
Rhythm sticks, sing-alongs, instrument exploration, and exploring diverse musical traditions.
Library media - Thursdays
Weekly library book checkouts, storytelling by the librarian, and introductory digital literacy.
Classroom community day - Fridays
Show-and-tell presentations, student of the week celebrations, and cooperative class projects.
